Dr.
Jerry L. Blount Age 82, of Alliance, passed away on Friday, Feb. 12, 2010, in Allay Senior Care following an extended illness. He was born in Cape Girardeau, Mo., on April 18, 1927, to the late Daniel and Wilma Blount. Jerry enlisted in the United States Navy and became a Naval Pilot during World War II and was drafted into the Army during the Korean War. Jerry earned his PhD from Northwestern University in between his two stints in the US Armed Forces. He attended Reading Church of the Brethren and was an avid animal lover. Jerry enjoyed fishing and painting, and was a water color artist. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Thurston Blount. A private memorial service was held in the Reed Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1815 W. Market St., Suite 301 Akron, OH 44313 or to Crossroads Hospice, 3743 Boettler Oaks Dr., Suite E, Uniontown, OH, 44685.
